- The National Trauma Institute is a non-profit organization formed in 2006 by leaders of America's trauma organizations. With the support and participation of the national trauma community, NTi advocates and manages funding for trauma research and is a national coordinating center fro trauma research funding. NTI has issued two national calls for proposals and received a total of 177 pre-proposals from 32 states and the District of Columbia. After rigorous peer-review, NTI awarded $3.9 million to 16 proposals involving 55 clinical investigators at 39 particpating sites spread across 35 cities and 22 states nationally. NTI research studies currently study aspects of non-compressible hemorrhage, coagulopathy, ventilator bundles, hospital-acquired infection, processes of care, splenic injury, anemia in trauma, and blood products.
