- Vital Communities is a regional nonprofit located in the Upper Connecticut River Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire. We work to engage citizens, organizations and communities in creating solutions to our region's challenges. Our current programs include: Valley Food and Farm which fosters the relationships that make agriculture a vital part of daily community life; Valley Quest , an award-winning, place-based education program that uses treasure hunts to celebrate community, natural history, cultural sites, stories and special places; Local First Alliance, which pursues a thriving local business economy, vibrant community organizations, and environmental stewardship; Leadership Upper Valley which empowers Upper Valley leaders to make a difference in their community; Vital Communities Energy Initiative which works to help towns save money and reduce energy use;Corporate Council which convenes Upper Valley corporate leaders to work for a conducive, long-lasting economic climate; Municipal Network which promotes inter-municipal cooperation and collaboration among elected and appointed officials. We are also in partnership with the Upper Valley Transportation Management Association working to mitigate traffic congestion and reduce reliance on single occupant vehicle commuting.
