    Description

    • Our mission is to provide all Somaliland women with the opportunity for healthy pregnancies and safe childbirths, to provide all infants with the healthy start they deserve, and to eliminate the practice of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting. We do this by funding the work of Edna Adan and her hospital, which was featured in the PBS documentary Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, and the book of the same name. Created in 2002 to train midwives throughout Somaliland, the Edna Adan University Hospital is working to train 1,000 midwives and spread them throughout Somaliland, creating a protective network for the country.
