• The West Indies Foundation (hereafter referred to as 'the Foundation') was created in September of 2010, in response to the evident lack of basic health services and the destitute situation of the poor in the developing countries of the Caribbean. While there are many local charities in our current operating country of Trinidad and Tobago, they often lack the specialized knowledge or resources required to create lasting change in the lives of the disadvantaged people that they serve.The Foundation seeks to work with established charities, churches, and governments to improve the lives of the people that they are responsible for. Where many charities try to create new, expensive, often redundant frameworks of support and program implementation, the Foundation works within established networks to avoid these high costs and to make sure that more of the donated dollars get to those who need them the most. We support health education programs, free health clinics, homes for abandoned children, and are committed to establishing a permanent, free health clinic in Trinidad and Tobago in the future.Funding comes mainly from individuals and corporations, along with money given by Christian organizations. We strive to maintain true transparency and will publish all financial information which will include how much we have received and how much of that was used on overhead costs and program expenses.
