- Gaines and Company is a site development contractor specializing in underground utilities. W. Lee Gaines, Jr. is the President of the company; L. Myrton Gaines II is Executive Vice President. We currently employ approximately 150 people. Gaines and Company does business with many local land owners and developers, as well as larger national developers. Most of our projects in Maryland are located around Baltimore and central Maryland, including Anne Arundel, Howard, Harford, Prince Georges, and Baltimore Counties. The company is known for exceptional service and production, due in no small part to the many years of experience. People come to us because they want the job done right the first time, with a speed that satisfies even the most demanding client. Gaines and Company was founded in 1954 by W.L. Gaines Sr. The company began doing small subdivision jobs in Baltimore County and expanded as the county grew in the 50's and 60's. Since 1997 the company has been the top producing utility contractor in the State of Maryland. We opened an office in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1998 and have steadily been expanding there as well.
