A new report released through Deloitte LLP declares that Facebook has generated an estimated $227 billion dollars in economic value and created 4.5 million job opportunities. The study reveals $104 billion of the estimated impact occurred in the United States.
Facebook’s COO Sheryl Sandberg stated, “We take our responsibility to be good corporate citizens really seriously and the study was conducted due to a genuine desire by us to understand the economic impact we’re having.”
Key findings from the Deloitte study include:
- Facebook connects more than 1.35 billion people, creating numerous opportunities for business of all sizes.
- Facebook users are the largest audience in the world that is reachable on a single platform.
- More than 1.5 million companies actively use Facebook’s targeting advertising system to reach potential customers.
- The number of active advertisers has grown by more than 50% since June 2013.
As of June 2014, more than 30 million small and medium sized businesses have established a Facebook Page. Effectively using social media marketing can increase online traffic and help promote your brand.
